Galerie Doria
Located in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés in Paris, Galerie Doria features works created in the first half of the twentieth century by the pioneers of the French Modern Movement. These designers in the 1930’s broke with the traditional decorative arts and founded the Union des Artistes Modernes – UAM in 1929. Fond of a synthesis of the arts, they conceived and put into shape what – still today – constitutes the basis of the functionalist trend in France; by doing so, they expressed and initiated the Spirit of Modernity.
The large space at Galerie Doria allows these designers’ works – furniture, lighting, art objects, plans, drawings, photographs – to be presented in the spirit of period rooms. Every year a thematic or monographic exhibition is organized, enhancing a particular aspect of each of their talents.
The research carried out by Denis Doria for almost thirty years has led to the publication of books dedicated to these great creators. Expert and collection advisor, Denis Doria contributes to the enrichment of important private and public collections in the field of modern industrial and decorative arts.
