Modernity
Modernity is a leading gallery offering exceptional vintage twentieth century design – furniture, lighting, ceramics and glass. The emphasis is on Scandinavian design, by amongst others: Wegner, Juhl, Aalto, Mathsson, Jacobsen, Salto, Friberg, Wirkkala and Sarpaneva. The gallery always has a good selection of pieces by other European designers, and the gallery interior is a mixture of international design. Andrew Duncanson opened Modernity in 1998 in Stockholm and the gallery is located in the heart of the design district.
The purpose of the gallery is to present exceptional international design in exciting surroundings. Modernity is a member of the Swedish Art and Antique Dealers Association, and is consequently a member of the international antique dealers association cINOA. The gallery exhibits regularly at antique and design shows in Stockholm, Paris and New york. Activities: Modernity has over the years held regular lectures in the gallery on design for schools, companies, journalists and private collectors, all conducted by Duncanson. Duncanson has also been a member of the deciding jury for the Swedish Design Association’s annual exhibitions at the museum of Architecture, Stockholm.
