mischer’traxler
Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler formed their studio mischer‘traxler in 2009 after graduating from the IM-masters department of Conceptual Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2008. Based in Vienna, they develop and design products, furniture, installations and more, with a focus on experimental and conceptual thinking. Balancing handcraft and technology, their approach aspires toward the creation of new objects, materials, concepts, systems and production methods that respect sustainability and the relevance of nature. The studio has been recognized by the Austrian Experimental Design Award and the DMY Award; they received an honorable mention at the Prix Ars Electronica; and they were nominated for the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year 2010. Their work has be exhibited by Art Institute Chicago, Design Museum London, MAK Vienna, and the Designhuis Eindhoven, among others. Their design “Limited Fungi” is part of the Droog collection.
